Welcome to English 10B

Our first novella this year will be Ernest Hemingway's The Old Man and the Sea. Set in Cuba during the 1950s, this tale of friendship discusses the importance of human dignity. Hemingway's realistic writing style allows the reader to envision the struggles faced by Santiago, the main character, and Manolin, his helper. Pay particular attention to the imagery and to the allusions that Hemingway uses as he tells Santiago's tale.

Be sure to stay up-to-date with the reading assignments and the notebook entries.
