Of Mice and Men

As you read Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, you will notice several similarities to Ernest Hemingway's The Old Man and the Sea. Friendship, loneliness, hard work, and dreams are evident in both. Yet, one is set in California during the 1930s and the other is set in Cuba in 1950s. Are the desires and needs of people universal, or are they dependent on time and place?

Your Nicenet post for this unit will involve your Great American Dream. What is it? How will you achieve your dream? Share your thoughts with your classmates by Wednesday, November 18.
