Research Projects

Period 3
Late April through mid-May will be dedicated to researching a topic of the student's choice. The goal of this project is for each student to produce an argumentative research paper and to properly cite the research. Each student will select a topic to research, narrow the topic, select four sources of information about that topic and take notes on each source, formulate a thesis statement, outline an argument that supports the thesis statement, write a strong opening paragraph as well as body paragraphs that support the thesis, and finish the argument with a strong conclusion. In addition, each student will document his/her work by creating an annotated bibliography.

Each step of the process will receive a separate grade so staying on task is extremely important.
